The Natural Buildings Collaborative (NBC) is a construction industry cluster focused on enhancing the affordability, scalability, innovation, and commercialization of mass timber and bio-based materials in North America.
We bring together providers, manufacturers, engineers, researchers, policymakers, and sustainability experts to collaborate on cost-effective solutions, commercialize innovation, and accelerate the adoption of bio-based low-carbon building materials.
The Collaborative is open to organizations that are part of the bio-based materials and product supply chains. Together, we drive innovation that strengthens the local bioeconomy and positions the region as a global leader in sustainable construction.

Our mission is to lower the cost of timber and bio-based materials while fostering collaboration, innovation and expanding market access. By leveraging bioresources responsibly, streamlining product development, and aligning with regulatory standards, we drive economic growth, environmental responsibility, and technological advancement across the region.

We envision a future where nature-based building solutions, using affordable, locally available, and disaster-resilient materials, become the norm in construction. With a strong focus on simplicity, resilience, and circularity, we aim to make British Columbia a hub of sustainable building innovation.
